The Broken Shaft: Tales in Mid-Ocean

by Henry Norman

When a luxury liner breaks down in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, a group of passengers are stranded with only each other for company. To pass the time, they tell each other stories of adventure, love, and loss. The Broken Shaft is a collection of short stories set aboard a luxury liner that suffers a catastrophic breakdown in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The passengers, all from different walks of life, are forced to come together to survive. As they wait for rescue, they pass the time by telling each other stories. These stories range from the humorous to the tragic, but they all share a common thread: they are tales of human resilience in the face of adversity. One passenger tells the story of his daring escape from a burning building. Another passenger tells the story of her love affair with a dashing prince. And still another passenger tells the story of his harrowing experience as a prisoner of war.
