'La Comédie Humaine: 05 - Scènes de la vie de province tome 1' Summary
Doué d'un génie de l'observation, Balzac a créé des types humains d'une vérité saisissante. Certains de ses personnages sont si vivants qu'ils en sont devenus des archétypes, comme Rastignac , le jeune provincial ambitieux, Grandet , le tyran domestique avare, ou le Père Goriot , l'icône de la paternité. Il accorde une place importante aux financiers et notaires, mais aussi au personnage de Vautrin , le hors-la-loi aux identités multiples. Son œuvre comprend une grande proportion de courtisanes et de grisettes, aux côtés de femmes admirables et angéliques. L'importance qu'il accorde à ces femmes et à leur psychologie lui vaut très tôt un lectorat féminin enthousiaste.
