Bible (BBE) 08: Ruth

by Bible in Basic English

The Book of Ruth, presented in the simplified language of Basic English, tells the story of Ruth, a Moabite woman who, after the death of her husband, chooses to remain loyal to her mother-in-law, Naomi, and return with her to Bethlehem. In Bethlehem, she finds work in the fields of Boaz, a wealthy landowner. Ruth's hard work, dedication, and kindness catch the eye of Boaz, who is impressed by her loyalty and her willingness to work hard. Boaz, a relative of Naomi's late husband, is also moved by her respect for the customs and traditions of the Israelite people. This leads to a romantic relationship between Ruth and Boaz, culminating in their marriage. Through this marriage, Ruth becomes an ancestor of King David and ultimately Jesus Christ. The story of Ruth serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of loyalty, faith, and kindness, and how these virtues can lead to unexpected blessings.
