'Bible (DRV) Apocrypha/Deuterocanon: Judith' Summary
The Book of Judith tells the story of a Jewish widow named Judith who saves her people from the Assyrian army. The Assyrians, led by the ruthless general Holofernes, have besieged the city of Bethulia. Facing starvation and defeat, the Israelites turn to prayer. Judith, however, devises a daring plan. She enters Holofernes’ camp, seduces him, and beheads him in his sleep. The Assyrians, leaderless and demoralized, flee in disarray. Judith's act of courage and faith secures the victory for the Israelites, highlighting the power of prayer and God's intervention in human affairs.Book Details
