Das Daodejing, auch bekannt als Tao Te Ching, ist ein klassischer chinesischer Text, der dem legendären Philosophen Laozi zugeschrieben wird. Es handelt sich um eine Sammlung von 81 Kapiteln, die kurze, prägnante Sprüche und Aphorismen enthalten, die den Tao, den Weg der Natur, beschreiben. Das Daodejing betont die Bedeutung von Einfachheit, Bescheidenheit, Ausgeglichenheit und Harmonie mit der Natur, um ein Leben in Fülle und Frieden zu führen. Es propagiert ein Leben im Einklang mit der Natur und den natürlichen Kreisläufen und lehrt, dass der beste Weg, etwas zu erreichen, darin besteht, nicht zu zwingen, sondern zuzulassen, dass die Dinge ihren natürlichen Lauf nehmen. Das Buch wurde von unzähligen Kommentatoren und Denkern über die Jahrhunderte hinweg interpretiert und gilt als eine der wichtigsten Schriften des Daoismus, einer philosophischen und religiösen Tradition, die sich mit der Natur und der menschlichen Existenz auseinandersetzt.
