This volume presents selections from Russian chap-book literature and the works of Russian and Polish collectors of folklore. The chap-book tales, and many of those of Glinski, are likely of foreign origin but have been adapted by the people of Russia and Poland to incorporate their national customs and lore. Thus, they are considered part of the folklore of these countries.
