'Hoosier Schoolmaster' Summary
Ralph Hartsook, a young man from New England, travels to the Midwest to become a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in the rural town of Flat Crick, Indiana. Hartsook is full of enthusiasm and eager to make a difference in the lives of his students. However, he soon learns that teaching in Flat Crick is not going to be easy. The students are unruly, the parents are skeptical, and the schoolhouse is in disrepair. Despite the challenges, Hartsook perseveres, and he eventually wins over the students and the community.
