by Presidential Task Force on Market Mechanisms

In the aftermath of the 1987 stock market crash, the Presidential Task Force on Market Mechanisms was appointed to investigate the causes of the crash and make recommendations for preventing future crashes. The task force's report, known as "The Brady Report," identified a number of factors that contributed to the crash, including the increased use of computerized trading and the lack of adequate regulation of the financial markets. The report recommended a number of changes to the financial regulatory system, many of which were implemented in the years that followed.
