Willem Tell
'Willem Tell' Summary
Willem Tell, a skilled archer, lives in Switzerland under the cruel rule of the Austrian governor, Gessler. Gessler, in a display of power, demands that all Swiss people bow before his hat. Willem, refusing to submit to this humiliating act, is punished by being forced to shoot an apple off his son's head with an arrow. Willem successfully completes the task, but his defiance further enrages Gessler, leading to a series of events that ultimately ignite a rebellion against Austrian rule. With Willem as their leader, the Swiss people fight for their freedom and ultimately triumph over the tyranny of Gessler, securing independence for their country.Book Details
