Don Sindulfo, un inventor excéntrico, ha creado una máquina capaz de viajar en el tiempo: el Anacronópete. Junto a su ayudante Benjamín y otros personajes extravagantes, emprenden viajes a diferentes épocas, como la España de 1492, la Pompeya del año 79 d.C. durante la erupción del Vesubio, o la China del siglo III. A través de sus aventuras, los personajes interactúan con figuras históricas, presencian eventos cruciales y experimentan las diversas culturas y modos de vida de diferentes eras.
