The Book of Numbers, the fourth book of the Hebrew Bible, is a detailed account of the Israelites' journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. It covers a period of about 38 years and includes accounts of the Israelites' wanderings in the wilderness, their encounters with other nations, and the giving of the law at Mount Sinai. The book is named after the census of the Israelites that is recorded in the first two chapters.
