In dem vorliegenden Band der Märchensammlung soll eine Auswahl aus der Märchenwelt Chinas gegeben werden. Die Wahl ist so getroffen, daß möglichst alle Ausprägungsweisen irgendwie vertreten sind. Das Märchen bildet in China kein streng gesondertes Gebiet. Von den Ammengeschichten und Fabeln bis zu Göttermythen, Sagen und Novellen sind die Grenzen durchaus schwankend.
