Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson
'Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson' Summary
Emily Dickinson was a prolific American poet who wrote over 1,700 poems during her lifetime. Her poems are known for their unique style, which is characterized by their short length, unconventional use of punctuation, and frequent use of metaphor. Dickinson's poems explore a wide range of themes, including nature, death, immortality, love, loss, identity, faith, hope, despair, beauty, and truth. Dickinson was born in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1830. She lived a relatively quiet life, spending most of her time at her family's home. She was a voracious reader and had a deep love of nature. Dickinson began writing poetry in her early twenties, but she did not publish any of her poems during her lifetime. After her death in 1886, her sister Lavinia discovered her collection of poems and arranged for their publication. Dickinson's poems have been praised for their originality, their insight into the human condition, and their lyrical beauty. She is considered one of the most important American poets of the 19th century.Book Details
