Deer Godchild
'Deer Godchild' Summary
James P. Jackson Jr. was a young New Yorker who was deeply affected by the plight of the children of France during World War I. He decided to do his part to help by sending ten cents worth of extra food each day to a "kid in France." James chose to support Andrée Leblanc, a young girl living in Paris with her mother. Her brother was a soldier for France and her father had been killed earlier in the war. James and Andrée exchanged letters throughout the war. Their letters provide a glimpse into the lives of two young people living in very different worlds, but who are united by their shared experience of the war. James' letters are full of hope and encouragement, while Andrée's letters are often filled with sadness and fear. However, both James and Andrée find solace in their friendship and in the knowledge that they are not alone. The letters between James and Andrée are a powerful reminder of the human spirit's ability to overcome adversity. They are a testament to the power of hope, friendship, and compassion.Book Details
