Lines on The Mermaid Tavern
by John Keats
'Lines on The Mermaid Tavern' Summary
The poem begins with the speaker declaring that souls of poets dead and gone are gathered at the Mermaid Tavern. He then imagines the conversations that must have taken place there, and he expresses his desire to join in on the revelry. The speaker goes on to describe the Mermaid Tavern as a place where “beaded bubbles winking at the brim” and “the Mermaid’s song” can be heard. He then expresses his wish that he could be transported back in time to experience the Mermaid Tavern for himself.Book Details
