'Memorias de un loco' Summary
The story begins with the clerk complaining about his superior and his life in general. He feels that he is being treated unfairly and that he deserves more respect. He also begins to experience strange symptoms, such as headaches and hallucinations. As his madness progresses, the clerk's diary entries become more and more incoherent. He begins to believe that he is a Spanish nobleman and that he is being held captive by his enemies. He also experiences visions of God and of the devil. In the end, the clerk is completely consumed by his madness and is taken to an asylum.Book Details
