On Reading The Bible
by Sir Arthur Thomas Quiller-Couch
'On Reading The Bible' Summary
In the first lecture, Quiller-Couch discusses the importance of reading the Bible in its historical and cultural context. He argues that we cannot understand the Bible if we do not know something about the people who wrote it, the time in which they lived, and the culture in which they lived. In the second lecture, Quiller-Couch discusses the different ways in which the Bible can be interpreted. He argues that there is no one right way to interpret the Bible, and that we must always be open to new and different ways of understanding it. In the third lecture, Quiller-Couch discusses the importance of reading the Bible with a critical eye. He argues that we should not simply accept everything that the Bible says as true, and that we should always be willing to question it.Book Details
