This book is a collection of poems by George Murray, a British poet, translator, and scholar who lived most of his life in Canada. The volume includes Murray's original poetry as well as his translations of works by famous French poets, including Victor Hugo, Alphonse de Lamartine, Alfred de Musset, Gérard de Nerval, and Théophile Gautier. It also features selections from Greek, Latin, Swedish, and German authors. The book was edited by John Reade, a prominent Canadian literary figure, who also wrote a biographical memoir of Murray.
