Spirit of Bambatse
'Spirit of Bambatse' Summary
Benita, a young woman of considerable spirit and beauty, is shipwrecked off the coast of the Transvaal, a territory in the heart of Africa. Stranded and alone, she is taken in by the resourceful John Carruthers, a man hardened by the wilderness who finds himself increasingly drawn to the spirited young woman. Together, they embark on a perilous journey through the wild, guided by the whispers of local legend about a hidden Portuguese treasure. They face hostile tribes, treacherous landscapes, and the dangers of the untamed wilderness, while their own feelings for each other deepen. The spirit of the legendary Bambatse, a powerful and mysterious entity, weaves its way through their story, adding an element of the supernatural to their quest. As they search for the treasure, Benita and John must confront not only the dangers of the physical world but also the unspoken tensions of colonialism and the complex tapestry of human emotions.Book Details
