Set in the post-Reconstruction South, Stanton White follows Harold Edson, a young Northerner, as he travels with his college friend, Stanton White, to study the social conditions of African Americans. Along their journey, they encounter racism and prejudice from whites, who view African Americans as inferior and unworthy of respect.
