Tom Playfair; or Making a Start
'Tom Playfair; or Making a Start' Summary
Ten-year-old Tom Playfair is a handful. After his mother's passing, his well-meaning but overwhelmed aunt is unable to manage him. His father, Mr. Playfair, decides the best course of action is to send Tom to St. Maure's, a Jesuit boarding school, to shape him up and prepare him for his upcoming First Communion. At first, Tom is unhappy about leaving home and the strictness of the school, but he soon discovers the wonders of life at St. Maure's. He makes new friends, learns about the Catholic faith, and begins to understand the importance of responsibility and discipline. The book follows Tom's adventures and growth at the school as he navigates the challenges of a new environment, learns valuable lessons from the priests and his fellow students, and gradually blossoms into a more mature and responsible young man. Through engaging tales of school life and friendships, Tom Playfair; or Making a Start offers a timeless message of character development and the power of faith and education.Book Details
