April
by Virna Sheard
'April' Summary
April is a poem about the beauty of the natural world and the power of new beginnings. The poem is divided into three stanzas.
In the first stanza, the poet describes the arrival of springtime with its flowers, birdsong, and warm breezes. She writes, "April has come with flowers sweet, / And birds are singing in the tree; / The warm south wind is blowing fleet, / And all the world is glad to be."
In the second stanza, the poet reflects on her own personal journey of renewal. She writes, "I, too, have come a weary way, / Through shadows dark and drear; / But now I see the dawning day, / And all my heart is glad and clear."
In the third stanza, the poet concludes by saying that she is grateful for the gift of new beginnings. She writes, "I thank thee, Lord, for April's grace, / That brings the springtime to the earth; / And I thank thee for the new-found peace / That fills my heart with joy and mirth."
The poem is written in a lyrical style that captures the beauty of nature and the poet's own inner transformation. It is a reminder that even in the midst of difficulty, there is always hope for new beginnings.
