by Lew Wallace
'Ben Hur' Summary
Judah Ben-Hur, a wealthy Jewish prince in Jerusalem, enjoys a close friendship with Messala, a Roman tribune. Their bond is shattered when Messala, blinded by ambition, falsely accuses Judah of treason, leading to his imprisonment and family's separation. Judah endures years of harsh slavery as a galley rower before escaping and seeking vengeance. He becomes a skilled charioteer, culminating in a thrilling chariot race against Messala. His pursuit of revenge becomes entwined with encounters with the three wise men and a growing awareness of the teachings of Jesus. Ultimately, Judah confronts his own thirst for vengeance and discovers forgiveness and faith in the face of adversity.Book Details
