Bible (ASV) 32: Jonah
'Bible (ASV) 32: Jonah' Summary
The Book of Jonah recounts the story of the prophet Jonah, who is commanded by God to preach repentance to the people of Nineveh, a powerful and wicked city. Jonah initially tries to evade God's command, fleeing in the opposite direction. He is punished for his disobedience when a great storm arises, and he is swallowed by a giant fish. After three days, Jonah is miraculously released and finally obeys God's call. In Nineveh, Jonah preaches a message of repentance, which is met with a surprising response—the entire city turns from their wicked ways. Jonah is initially angered by God's mercy towards the Ninevites, but through his experience, he learns a valuable lesson about God's love and compassion for all people.Book Details
