El libro de Jonás es una historia bíblica que narra la historia del profeta Jonás, quien es llamado por Dios para predicar a la ciudad de Nínive, una ciudad conocida por su maldad. Jonás, sin embargo, se resiste a la orden de Dios y huye en dirección opuesta, embarcándose en un viaje marítimo. Durante la travesía, una gran tormenta azota el barco y Jonás es arrojado al mar, siendo tragado por un gran pez. Dentro del pez, Jonás se arrepiente de su desobediencia y Dios lo libera. Jonás finalmente se dirige a Nínive y predica a la ciudad, la cual se arrepiente y se salva del juicio de Dios.
