by Young's Literal Translation
'Bible (YLT) 02: Exodus' Summary
The book of Exodus recounts the story of the Israelites' liberation from slavery in Egypt under the leadership of Moses. It begins with the Israelites' oppression by a new pharaoh who knows not Joseph. Moses, raised in the pharaoh's household but raised by his own Hebrew mother, flees Egypt after killing an Egyptian slave master, and spends many years as a shepherd in Midian. God appears to Moses in a burning bush and commissions him to return to Egypt and lead the Israelites out of slavery. After a series of plagues, God delivers the Israelites from Egypt in the Exodus, and they journey through the wilderness towards the Promised Land. Along the way, God gives Moses the Ten Commandments and establishes a covenant with the Israelites. The book concludes with the Israelites' arrival at Mount Sinai, where they receive the Law and build the Tabernacle, a portable sanctuary for worship.Book Details
