Castaways of the Flag
by Jules Verne
'Castaways of the Flag' Summary
The story begins with the arrival of the British corvette Unicorn, commanded by Lieutenant Littlestone, on an island inhabited by the Wolston family. After leaving the Zermatt brothers and Jenny Montrose on the island, the ship sets sail again. The Zermatt brothers, Fritz and Frank, and Jenny embark on a journey to England, hoping to find Jenny's father and pursue their individual goals. Dolly Wolston, the younger daughter of the Wolston family, is sent to Cape Town to join her brother, James, a married man with a child. Mr. Wolston hopes that his son, James, will return to the island with his family and join the Zermatts, who by this time will be a married couple, and Dolly. The book follows the struggles and triumphs of these castaways as they face the challenges of establishing a new life in a remote, but beautiful, environment. Love blossoms between Jenny and Fritz, and the characters navigate the complexities of family, romance, and their individual desires, ultimately forging a unique and enduring community on the island.Book Details
