This memoir recounts the personal experiences of Joseph Lievesley Beeston, the officer commanding the 4th Field Ambulance, Australian Imperial Force, during the five months he spent at Gallipoli during World War I. From his departure from Australia in December 1914 to his evacuation due to illness, Beeston offers a firsthand account of the challenges and horrors of war, as well as the resilience and camaraderie of the soldiers who fought there.
