'Großinquisitor' Summary
Im Roman "Die Brüder Karamasow" erzählt Iwan Karamasow die Geschichte vom "Großinquisitor". Jesus kehrt im 16. Jahrhundert nach Sevilla zurück und wird vom Großinquisitor verhaftet. Dieser beschuldigt ihn, die Menschen in die Irre zu führen und die Autorität der Kirche zu untergraben. Der Großinquisitor argumentiert, dass die Menschen zu schwach und sündig seien, um die Freiheit zu haben, ihren eigenen Weg zu wählen, und dass die Kirche sie daher anleiten und beschützen müsse. Jesus schweigt während der gesamten Geschichte und wird schließlich vom Großinquisitor zum Tode durch Verbrennung verurteilt.
