Indian Boyhood
'Indian Boyhood' Summary
Indian Boyhood chronicles the childhood of Ohiyesa, a young Sioux boy growing up in the prairies of the Dakota Territory in the late 19th century. Born into a traditional way of life, Ohiyesa learns the skills and values of his people through hunting, horsemanship, and the stories passed down by his elders. As Ohiyesa grows, he becomes increasingly aware of the encroaching presence of white settlers and the threats they pose to his people's land and way of life. The memoir captures the tension between the old and new worlds, as Ohiyesa struggles to reconcile his traditional upbringing with the demands of the modern world.Book Details
