Inside of the Cup
'Inside of the Cup' Summary
John Hodder, an idealistic young clergyman, takes on the position of rector at St. John's, a church nestled in a affluent area of London. He quickly discovers the stark contrast between the opulent lives of his parishioners and the desperate poverty that exists just beyond the church's doors. Hodder wrestles with the hypocrisy he sees, particularly in the lives of those who profess faith while engaging in questionable actions. He also grapples with his own moral compass, torn between his commitment to his calling and the desires and temptations that plague him. The novel delves into the complexities of faith, exploring questions of personal responsibility, social justice, and the struggle to live a life that aligns with one's beliefs. Hodder's journey is one of disillusionment, self-discovery, and ultimately, a deeper understanding of faith's transformative power.Book Details
