Journal of Nicholas Cresswell, 1774-1777
'Journal of Nicholas Cresswell, 1774-1777' Summary
Nicholas Cresswell was the son of an English landowner who emigrated to America in 1774 against his family's wishes. He traveled to Barbados to trade cotton, then to the Ohio frontier in search of farmland. When the Revolutionary War broke out, he refused to fight for the American side and struggled to find a way back to England. His journal provides a vivid account of his adventures and observations during this critical period in American history.Book Details
