'Kangaroo' Summary
Set amidst the political turmoil of post-WWII Australia, "Kangaroo" follows journalist Richard Lovat Somers as he becomes entangled in the clash between a burgeoning fascist movement and a socialist faction. Befriending Jack Calcott, a charismatic leader of the fascist group, Somers finds himself drawn into the group's ideology. However, as tensions escalate, Somers' loyalties are divided between his British identity and his newfound Australian connections. The novel explores themes of political extremism, conflicting ideologies, and the complexities of personal relationships against the backdrop of a society grappling with war's aftermath.Book Details
