'Life of Harriot Stuart' Summary
Harriot Stuart, a young woman of questionable background, arrives in London and quickly becomes the object of attention for several eligible suitors. However, Harriot is not interested in finding a husband; she is more interested in using her coquettish ways to manipulate the men around her. She enjoys the power that she has over them and uses it to her advantage. As the story progresses, Harriot's true nature is revealed. She is not the innocent young woman that she pretends to be. She is a calculating and ambitious woman who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. She uses her beauty and charm to get ahead in life, and she is not afraid to use underhanded tactics to achieve her goals. The Life of Harriot Stuart is a cautionary tale about the dangers of coquetry and ambition.
