Ferdinand Huyck, de zoon van de hoofdschout in Amsterdam, keert na een lange reis terug naar huis. Onderweg wordt hij overvallen door struikrovers, maar gered door een mysterieuze man genaamd Bos. Bos is op de vlucht voor de politie, samen met zijn mooie dochter Amelia. Ferdinand raakt verliefd op Henriette Blaek, maar zijn geheime band met Bos en Amelia creëert een web van leugens en gevaar.
