The story begins when three girls, Sarah, Betsy, and Nancy, are brought together by chance and form an unbreakable bond, calling themselves the Dearwas. They share a passion for animals and decide to create a club with a group of boys, the Detectives, named the Band of Mercy, dedicated to animal welfare.
