Man-Eaters Of Tsavo

Man-Eaters of Tsavo

by John Henry Patterson

In 1898, during the construction of a bridge over the Tsavo River in Kenya for the Uganda Railway, a series of terrifying attacks occurred. Two large male lions, known as the Tsavo Man-Eaters, stalked the construction camp at night, preying on the workers. Over the course of nine months, these lions killed and devoured an estimated 135 men. 'Man-Eaters of Tsavo' chronicles the harrowing experience of Lieutenant Colonel John Henry Patterson, a British Royal Engineer tasked with stopping the man-eating lions. Patterson's account details his relentless pursuit of the lions, the challenges he faced, and the impact the man-eaters had on the workers and the construction project. This book offers a glimpse into a brutal chapter of colonial Africa, a testament to the power of nature, and the determination of one man to overcome unimaginable challenges.
