When twelve-year-old Chris steps into Mr. Wicker's antique shop, he is drawn into a world of mystery and magic. The unassuming old man reveals himself to be a powerful magician and chooses Chris as his apprentice. Under Mr. Wicker's tutelage, Chris discovers the ability to transform himself into various creatures and wield a magic rope that grants him extraordinary powers. As Chris delves deeper into the world of magic, he learns of a vital mission that awaits him: a perilous voyage to China. Unbeknownst to Chris, he has been targeted by a group of sinister individuals led by the malevolent Claggett Chew.
