When twelve-year-old Chris steps into Mr. Wicker's antique shop, he is drawn into a world of mystery and magic. The unassuming old man reveals himself to be a powerful magician and chooses Chris as his apprentice. Under Mr. Wicker's tutelage, Chris discovers the ability to transform himself into various creatures and wield a magic rope that grants him extraordinary powers.
