Mystery Play in Honor of the Nativity of Our Lord
'Mystery Play in Honor of the Nativity of Our Lord' Summary
The play opens with the Annunciation, in which the angel Gabriel appears to Mary and tells her that she will bear a son, the Son of God. Mary is troubled by this news, but she accepts God's will. The play then follows Mary and Joseph as they travel to Bethlehem for the census. Along the way, they meet a variety of characters, including shepherds, angels, and wise men. When they arrive in Bethlehem, they find that there is no room for them at the inn, so they are forced to stay in a stable. It is here that Jesus is born. The play ends with the visit of the Magi, who bring gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The Magi recognize Jesus as the King of the Jews and worship him.Book Details
