'News From Nowhere' Summary
William Guest, a member of the Socialist League in late Victorian England, falls asleep after a political meeting and wakes up in a strange new world. It is the year 2000, and England has undergone a radical transformation. He finds himself in a society without money, private property, or class divisions. The people live in harmony with nature, working only for their own pleasure and satisfaction. Guest is guided through this utopian world by a group of friendly residents, including the enigmatic Old Hammond. He learns about their communal way of life, their shared ownership of resources, and their emphasis on art and creativity. Guest's journey involves encounters with different aspects of this utopian society, from their beautiful architecture and handcrafted goods to their egalitarian social structures and absence of violence.
