'Physician In Spite of Himself' Summary
In the midst of a marital spat with his wife, Sganarelle is tricked into becoming a physician by a group of peasants. Despite having no medical knowledge, he is quickly dubbed "Dr. Sganarelle" and begins treating patients. His ridiculous diagnoses and absurd remedies lead to a string of hilarious mishaps. Meanwhile, Sganarelle's wife, Martine, plots to get revenge for his earlier mistreatment. As Sganarelle's medical blunders escalate, he encounters a mute girl who miraculously regains her speech after being "treated" by him. This unexpected turn of events leads to a philosophical discussion about the true nature of healing and the power of belief. Ultimately, Sganarelle's greed and incompetence are exposed, and he is forced to confront the consequences of his actions.Book Details
