**Reise in das Innere der Insel Formosa** is a travelogue by Karl Theodor Stöpel, a German ethnologist and explorer. The book describes Stöpel's journey to the interior of the island of Formosa (now known as Taiwan) in 1898, during the Japanese occupation. Stöpel provides detailed observations of the island's geography, people, and culture, as well as the aftermath of a devastating typhoon and an uprising against the Japanese occupiers. The book also includes an account of Stöpel's ascent of Mount Morrison, the highest peak in Taiwan.
