Search The Sky

Search the Sky

by Frederik Pohl

In a chillingly bleak future, humanity has established colonies across the stars, but something sinister is unfolding. Halsey's Planet, a once thriving outpost, is slowly succumbing to an inexplicable decay, with its population dwindling and its inhabitants seemingly oblivious to the impending doom. When an interstellar transport arrives after decades of silence, it brings news that is both terrifying and perplexing: all the other colony worlds are devoid of life. Ross, a young trader caught in this unsettling scenario, witnesses firsthand the creeping decay that threatens to consume not only the planet but also the very fabric of humanity itself. 'Search the Sky' delves into the consequences of isolation, the fragility of human existence, and the chilling possibility that humanity may not be destined for a glorious future among the stars.
