Studies in the Psychology of Sex, Volume 3
'Studies in the Psychology of Sex, Volume 3' Summary
This volume focuses on exploring the nature of what were then considered sexual perversions, particularly sadism and masochism. Ellis presents a detailed analysis of these behaviors, moving beyond simply labeling them as abnormal. He argues that such tendencies can be traced back to fundamental aspects of the sexual impulse and are present, to varying degrees, in everyone during some stage of their sexual development. His work also tackles the crucial yet complex question of the sexual impulse in women. In contrast to the prevalent view that differences in sexual expression between men and women were solely quantitative, Ellis asserts that qualitative differences exist and explores their significance. He argues that the understanding of female sexuality, often obscured by societal expectations, is crucial for a balanced and insightful understanding of human sexuality as a whole.Book Details
