Hershele is a young Jewish man who lives in a small town in Russia. He is unhappy with the traditional life of his community and dreams of becoming an educated man of the world. He leaves his home and travels to Germany, where he studies at a university and becomes a successful businessman. However, Hershele never forgets his Jewish roots and remains a committed Jew. He uses his wealth and influence to help other Jews and to promote Jewish culture. The Wishing-Ring is a classic of Yiddish literature and is considered one of Mendele Mocher Sforim's greatest works.Book Details
