The three short stories in this collection are "Up in Michigan," "My Old Man," and "The End of Something." "Up in Michigan" is a coming-of-age story about a young boy's experiences with his family during a summer vacation. "My Old Man" is a story about a young boy's relationship with his father, a horse trainer. "The End of Something" is a story about the end of a relationship between a young man and a woman.
