'Triste Fim de Policarpo Quaresma' Summary
Policarpo Quaresma, um funcionário público brasileiro, é um fervoroso nacionalista e idealista. Ele acredita na grandeza do Brasil e dedica sua vida à causa da pátria, buscando promover a cultura e os valores nacionais. Quaresma, obcecado por seus ideais, elabora projetos grandiosos como a criação de uma língua nacional, a reforma do sistema educacional e a produção de alimentos exclusivamente brasileiros. No entanto, suas ideias são incompreendidas e rejeitadas pela sociedade, dominada por interesses políticos e sociais. Seu amor platônico por uma mulher casada e a sua crescente frustração com a realidade levam-no à loucura. A obra, com um tom ácido e irônico, critica a hipocrisia da elite, a corrupção política, a desvalorização da cultura brasileira e a ineficácia do idealismo diante da realidade. O final trágico de Quaresma representa a derrota da utopia e a fragilidade do indivíduo frente às estruturas de poder.Book Details
