Woman of No Importance
by Oscar Wilde
'Woman of No Importance' Summary
Lord Illingworth is a charming and manipulative man who becomes entangled in the lives of several women. He is engaged to the wealthy and beautiful Lady Hunstanton, but he is also attracted to the younger and more innocent Lady Caroline Pontefract. Lord Illingworth also has a secret past that threatens to come to light. The play is a witty and entertaining look at the social mores of the time. Wilde satirizes the hypocrisy and double standards of the upper class, and he also explores the themes of love, marriage, and morality.Book Details
