Amor de Perdição
'Amor de Perdição' Summary
Amor de Perdição tells the tragic tale of Simão Botelho, a young man from a noble family, and Teresa de Albuquerque, a woman from a lower social class. Their love is forbidden, defying the rigid social norms of 19th-century Portugal. Their families, driven by pride and ambition, conspire to keep them apart. Simão, determined to be with Teresa, faces numerous obstacles, including his own family's opposition, and ultimately, the machinations of a vengeful rival. Their love, however, burns brighter, even as it is threatened by forces beyond their control. As their passion intensifies, so too do the consequences of their defiance, leading to a series of fateful events that ultimately seal their fate. The story explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the cruel reality of societal constraints. The novel is also notable for its emotional intensity, vivid descriptions, and its depiction of the complexities of human relationships, making it a timeless and powerful work of Portuguese literature.Book Details
