Between the Larch-woods and the Weir
'Between the Larch-woods and the Weir' Summary
The novel is set in a small village in the English countryside. The village is divided into two parts: the larch-woods, which are wild and untamed, and the weir, which is a peaceful and bucolic area.
One day, a young woman named Abigail is found dead in the larch-woods. The villagers are quick to point fingers at the local ne'er-do-well, Mick, but the police are not convinced. They launch an investigation, but the clues are scarce.
As the mystery deepens, the villagers are forced to confront their own secrets and prejudices. The larch-woods are said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman who was murdered there many years ago. Is it possible that this ghost is responsible for Abigail's death?
The police eventually track down the real killer, but not before the villagers have been forced to learn some uncomfortable truths about themselves. The novel explores the themes of prejudice, guilt, and redemption. It is a suspenseful mystery with a satisfying ending.
